About Lauren

Lauren Bates is a San Diego-based attorney who devotes her entire practice to adoption and dependency cases. After spending many years representing and advising corporations in litigation, she found her true calling following the adoption of her daughter. Lauren and her husband later welcomed a second child, a son, through adoption as well.

As an attorney and adoptive mom, Lauren understands both the legal and emotional aspects of the adoption process. She is uniquely able to combine diligent and competent representation with compassion and understanding of her clients’ circumstances. She aims to make the legal portion of the adoption as transparent, efficient, and seamless as possible.

Lauren earned her J.D. from the University of San Diego School of Law. While attending law school, Lauren was a law clerk for the United States Attorney’s Office and served as an extern for the Hon. Marilyn L. Huff, U.S. District Court, Southern District of California. Prior to law school, Lauren earned her bachelor’s degree in international studies with an emphasis in political science from the University of California, San Diego.
